Mount Calvary/Prairie City Cemetery

Photographed and transcribed by Jane Owens and Johnna Quick 12 August, 2004

We drove to Baldwin City, Kansas on the off chance that I might locate
my GGGGrandfather Arcene Jardon's grave there. Luck was on our side.
I not only located him but his parents as well, along with his
brother. This cemetery was so amazing, so I am also including pictures
of some of the beautiful monuments. The complete transcription is
below the photos.

It reads the same as the larger monument Arsine Jordon *should be Arcene Jardon* Company D 12th Kansas Infantry Harriett E. Wife of Arcene Jardon Born in Salisbury Connecticut July 21, 1853 October 6, 1916 Her footstone reads: Our Darling Mother This is the headstone of Harriett E. Jardon. Arcene Jardon's wife. She is not buried in Mt. Calvary. She is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery Wyandotte County, Kansas. When facing Arcene's grave to the right there are several empty plots beside him. I believe he planned on his family being buried beside him. So I decided to go ahead and reunite Arcene and Harriett even if it is only on a website. Transcriptions are listed below so the text can be printed out quickly without using as much printer ink as the photos would require. ***********************************************************************
